Gasoline-powered cars are becoming more energy-efficient and emit less pollution, but electric cars are still the cleanest transportation option available. Many people are still not convinced that electric cars are worth the investment, even if they contribute less to emissions. However, there are three compelling reasons for you to get an electric vehicle that are not related to pollution.

1. Electric cars are cheaper to operate and maintain. While gasoline costs have been rising steadily, the cost of electricity has remained almost constant for some time now. This makes charging an electric car cheaper than filling up a tank with gasoline. Some studies show that shifting to an electric car would result in savings of up to $1,000 yearly. Following this strategy, authorities claim that they the country can cut its daily oil use by 1.5 million barrels by 2035, a huge step for a country that uses almost 20 million barrels of oil a day.
